Karen O’Brien

Color is the underlying theme in most of my work. I paint using acrylic, together with charcoal, glazes and varnish. Most of my work is 24" x 30" and larger.

Inspiration comes from the energetic reaction I feel when I view color in my environment. I could be walking or reading or even shopping. My art is my translation. Patterns and light are captured with my camera and often show up in my work. All work is for sale unless otherwise noted. Please contact me by email with questions.

My philosophy about painting is that, above all, the best work comes from a place of passion. I usually get excited about color and the creativity just flows. When I am emotionally moved, my work becomes a flow of my energy onto the canvas. It is probably the most satisfying moment of engagement I could ever have.
